Sun Stone – Inner Radiance and Sacred Joy
1. History & Origin
Sunstone (or heliolite) is a variety of feldspar with golden, coppery, or orange highlights. It gets its name from its shimmering luster, reminiscent of the sun's rays at dawn. Among the Vikings, it was considered a celestial compass guiding navigators. In other traditions, it symbolized solar power, luck, and vital energy.
It is often confused with orange aventurine or synthetics, but its natural brilliance (aventurescence), due to fine inclusions of hematite or goethite, distinguishes it with its warm and benevolent radiance.
The main deposits are located in India, Norway, Canada, Russia and the United States.
